I expected to wholly enjoy reading this novel too but was fairly disappointed at first! It got better after the arrival of the Cotton brothers though.
I regret not reading this book earlier. It’s definitely one of the best written stories I’ve read. :)

Thanks for your comment (and thanks for linking me in your review as well! I actually found Cassandra’s inner dialogue totally charming, and the Cottons a bit Mary Sue. I thought the entire episode with Cassandra and Rose and the fur coat a little bit ridiculous, but… hey.
If you liked this book, I’m told that a similar novel is Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love (and its sequel, Love in a Cold Climate). I haven’t read it yet, but you might be interested in it.
